What is General Surgery?​

General surgery involves surgical procedures on the abdomen, digestive tract, breast, skin, and soft tissues. It forms the foundation for many surgical subspecialties and is known for its variety of procedures and fast-paced environment.

  • Appendectomy: This is a very common and simple surgery which involves removing the appendix due to it becoming inflamed.​​

  • Cholecystectomy: This surgery removes the gallbladder which usually happens because of severe gallstones or the inflammation of the gallbladder.

Tools & Technology​

 

  • Laparoscope: Tiny camera used to go in the body and assess the area.

  • Electrocautery: Used to stop bleeding and sometimes close up cuts.

  • Sutures: Used to close cuts at the end of a surgery.

  • Robotic Arms: Cutting-edge technology which is used to remove the chances of error that could be made by humans.​​
